Conclusion of social media research

From completing this research we now know what social media platforms we will use be using to promote and sell our band. The social media platforms which we have selected are Instagram and Twitter, both these social media platforms follow our genre much more than any other social media platforms and it is very common for a pop rock band to be active on these two social media platforms. 


Further from completing this research it has enabled us to see what we need to post on our social medias for our band and what content, in what order, how often to post, and the type of captions in which we will have under our posts. Throughout the research which I followed through with I saw a genuine similarity between Blink-182 Twitter account and Green Day's instagram account and that is that they are personal and interactive. Even though Green Day instagram social media campaign is very much performance oriented they do incorporate elements of behind the scenes or of them rehearsing or back stage, this is always extremely important as it fascinates their fans and audience and makes them want to know more as there is an idea that the fans are involved and they feel like they know the band to another level. When actually this just portrays a successful social media campaign from how the band have been sold.



Blink-182's Twitter account is much more active in comparison to their instagram but in comparison to Green Day's activity, they are not as active. Blink-182 are more interactive with their fans and bass their social media campaign mostly on their merchandise, and their interaction with their fans if that is either retweeting or sharing their posts. They post very little about the band performing and do not focus on this as much in comparison to Green Day. They run their social media campaign in a very successful way where they are able to show their fans their love for them and how much they appreciate and the results of this only attracts wider audiences and increases their popularity within the music and social media industry.
